Nicola Garelli

Director - The Boston Consulting Group - BCG Digital Ventures

Born in Asti, he is the one of the founders and current President of iStarter.

Nicola graduated in 2004 in Telecommunication Engineering. Getting then a MSc in Financial Engineering and a PhD in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering.

He started his full-time career while studying at the Bachelor, joining EY as an Analyst until 2005. Nicola collected experiences as Group Controller and CEO at Gruppo Gavio/Ruscalla, and at Booz & Company until 2012.

From 2012 Nicola became Principal at BCG working between Milan, Rome, London and Istanbul. In the same year he founded iStarter with the aim of helping fast-growing startups to scale up internationally.

From 2017 Nicola is also Director at BCG Digital Ventures, focusing on ideating, developing and launching disruptive digital businesses.

Nicola is a Chartered Engineer, Member of The Council for the United States and Italy in its Young Leader Program and Junior Fellow at the Aspen Institute.

Work Experience

President, iStarter

Nicola has been the founder and first Chairman of iStarter, in charge up to the end of 2014.
In 2015 he became the President of the UK-based entity and remained a board member of the holding, where he took the presidential role again in 2016.

BCG DV is focused on ideating, developing and launching disruptive digital businesses in partnership with Fortune 500 companies, often co-investing in the venture through its own investment vehicles.
