Treedom is the only website in the world that allows private users and companies to plant trees in just one click, thus directly supporting local farmers around the world. Every tree has an online page, it’s geolocalized and photographed; it can be kept or virtually gifted to others through a message. On Treedom, a tree can involve people and become a marketing and communication tool. Companies can create real forests in their brand’s name and involve their stakeholders by gifting them trees. Moreover, trees can be used to offset carbon emissions created by products, services and events. Since Treedom’s foundation in 2010 in Florence, more than 700,000 trees have been planted in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Italy, thanks to 250,000 users and 1,200 corporate clients. H&M, Enel, Axa, San Benedetto, Hyundai and Unilever are just some of the brands that already own personal forests. All trees are planted by local farmers. The company’s philosophy is to directly involve those most in need of local benefits, which can be obtained through agroforestry activities. Since 2010 more than 40,000 farmers have been involved. Thanks to this business model, in 2014 Treedom became part of the Certified B Corporations, a network of companies that stand out for their high environmental and social performance.
